About _Insula_

I'm Marco, a certified hiking guide and photographer.
I created Insula out of a deep desire to offer meaningful, informative, and respectful hiking experiences around Mount Etna and beyond.
After years of working with agencies that often offered superficial or unsatisfying excursions, I felt the need to build something more genuine. With Insula, I bring together my experience, my love for nature, and my knowledge of the territory to create hikes that are rewarding for anyone who truly wants to discover this unique landscape in a way that respects the environment and the spirit of the Etna Natural Park.

How _Insula_
came to be
Insula is a young project, still taking shape but already guided by a clear vision. It looks beyond guided walks on Etna, aiming to explore the full richness of the Sicilian territory, its hidden corners, quiet trails and deep-rooted traditions.
By connecting passionate guides, cultural experts, local institutions and rural communities, Insula works to keep Sicily’s identity alive. Its goal is to create educational and travel experiences with real cultural, emotional and personal value for both those who offer them and those who take part.
Insula's philosophy embraces a responsible form of tourism that stands in contrast to mass tourism. It encourages travel that raises awareness of environmental challenges and uplifts the communities and places that make this island truly special, without altering or consuming them.
Choosing to explore with Insula means joining and supporting a project that values the land through genuine connection, guided by local voices, with the belief that truly discovering a place also means taking care of it.
